Sterling Jones Eades joined the US Army National Guards right out of high school june 26th 2006 with his older sister. For he loved his country and honored it with great pride. He displayed the greaest respect for us and his family. In his favorite sport of football sterling is remembered as the one who would punch an opening in the defensive line so that someone else could carry the ball to a touch down. So it was that of PVT Eades his last deed in life was to be clearing everyone else out of a burning building that saturday morning of march 15th 2008 so that they are able to carry on with the ball of life. My son My soldier My hero had given his life to save the life of his older sister and her 5 month old son and two of his friends.
Firefight captured on cellphone
The below video from youtube actually isn't a video-- it's all audio. it was captured on voicemail from families cellphone from their brother, a Marine, in Afghanistan. His unit got into a firefight with the Al Qaeda, and his cell phone was in his pocket and it accidentally re-dialed his home halfway around the world.....
You can listen here, but be warned: there is some graphic language. Also, at the end, you can hear someone yell "RPG!" meaning a rocket propelled grenade was fired at them, but the story has a happy ending... the marines came through just fine. The news article is here:
