Really? I thought it was us who drived on the side of the road and that we are the one's with accent? LOL! When I went to Ireland one year, I was in the back and I was the one who was doing the ducking! I could never get use to the other side of the road thing but I am sure that left handed people love it!

Here in Boston, where ever there is "r" you pronounce it "ah",

where ever there is an "a", you prounce it "r" and where ever there is an "o" you use "aw"

"Pah-k the cah in the yah-d"
"Baw-stawn" or what about this one...

"My idea-rrrrr"

Pretty silly huh!

There are very few schools here in the US that go year around. The typical school year is from Sept thru June. Summer time from June to early Sept, and yes the kids do move up a year. Our grades go generally from Kindergarten to 12th grade...we do have preschool for the toddlers as my little one is in preschool.

Our father's day was this past June, mother's day is in May and for Christmas, they usually get a week to two weeks off for that time and start back right after New Years.

The school breaks tend to be a week, one in Feb, one in April, Christmas which leads into New Years and then off in June! Late June that is.

We get a lot of Australians up here in Boston as tourists and they are always fun!

South America I believe also has opposite holidays and seasons from the US.

Yup, school is out, vacation time and summer time! People are out and enjoying the beaches. The weather is nice and so people as you know are out unlike the winter times.

Things are quiet here. I also know that there are a few wives that have moved due to their husbands new station location and so they too have been off...

How are things with you back home?

Things seem quiet on troop space. Is it because you have your holidays now?

Jari, I have a couple of old Bugle manuals that you might be interested in, seem you are a historian in bugles. Or I can copy on a disk & send it to you. One is Army Navy Bugle calls dated 1892. The other is HMAS Cererbus

Ian

I'd love to see them. Scan and send them. I'll send some of my manuals back in return!

Best

Jari

New GI Bill Incentives to Guard/Reserve Veterans!

Saw this on the news last night. I say it's about time. They've earned it. President Bush just signed into law the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. It allows for all guardsman & reservists who have served at least 90 days on active duty since 9/11, entitlement to better GI Bill tuition assistance. The more time served on active duty, the more tuition the government will pay. For more info on this Act, you can check out the Fact Sheet… Continue

Virginia is for lovers.

Hello, beloved TroopSpace. Lovely, lovely TroopSpace. Oh, how I've neglected you! Hey everybody! Oh, I know it's been quite a while now and I thought I'd make it up with a lovely update! As some of you all know by now, I am finally reunited with Michael! They pulled in one day before his birthday. From what he tells me, it was the greatest birthday ever. Coming home from a tiring patrol to a beautiful wife [hehe], and sweet gifts! Ofcourse I was his BEST gift ever. But aside from that, I bough… Continue

Not Your Typical Job...and I love it!

As the tourist season starts, the days are long, usually hot and humid and occassionally rainy which is never fun to drive in. The windows fog up, people are sticking to the seats if not each other, the few windows that are open, the rain finds it way to come in pounding right ontop of you... People won't get off, others are upset that they can't on but after a ten to twelve hour day, after we go home, we get up the next day, a new day and might possibly do it all over again and again! I have… Continue

Cherrio's, Nemo and Oyster Crackers?

My son is a little over 20 months old. He's into everything! The other day my husband and I were in the living room watching Dylan run around. It was time for his nap and he just wanted no part of it what so ever. As Tim (my husband) channel surfed he stopped on a channel which was showing a lacrosse game. (My family is very big into lacrosse) Well, Dylan stopped what he was doing and sat in his chair. SAT IN HIS CHAIR FOR MORE THAN 2 MINS!!! LOL He loved watching tha game. I kind of stood back… Continue

Where have I been...RIP Scott...Former Marine

Hello To All, I just wanted to say sorry for being distant...long hours at work as it is the season for touring! But I sadly, a dear friend of mine, former co-worker passed away. He was in a motorcycle accident, brain damage and broken arms, was in a coma for a week before taken off life support. My dear friend Scott was an aerial gun instructor in the Marine Corpts and he did 2 years in the National Guard. Former trooper, great boss, dear friend, family man...a big tough teddy bear who was a… Continue

UPDATE!!! :D

Okay, so here's pretty much what's going on for those of you that are interested. :P I've been busy going through the loads of junk I've accumulated throughout my life. Hahaha. I don't know about you guys, but I'm a pack rat! I like to save boxes of memories and whatnot. I know the Coast Guard provides movers to pack up my stuff, but I like to be more prepared. Since I won't be here when they pick up my stuff, I want them to be able to just get in and get out! I've gone through my clothes and… Continue
