Why I Serve
My family has always had a strong tradition of military service.
I have an ancestor, John Peck Rathbun, that died in an English prison for raiding the coast of the UK during the Revolutionary War. He had kids so the rest of us have a "famous" ancestor.
My Grandfather was too old and had too many kids to serve in WW1. He was also a veteran of the Spanish American War and served in the HORSE Calvary under Colonel Theodore Roosevelt, in Cuba.
I remember playing with the rifle that he was issued. Yup, little kids in my family got to play with REAL guns. Real bullets were not allowed, though.
My grandparents sent five sons to WW2. They had to have a customized placard made to show five stars in their front window. All five returned relatively healthy and raised a large crowd of kids.
My father was a member of the 1st Marine Division and a survivor of Guadalcanal and several other islands.
Virtually EVERY adult male that I knew, as a child, was a veteran.
With all those veteran family members and the fact that I really wanted to see history being made...

Whadya gonna doo??

Cassie. tell Tyler his is pretty much right, but then in "life"...
people cheat.

An interest in chess at a young age, shows a really sharp mind.
See that the kid gets some music training. Music hones a sharp mind and sharpens a dull mind.

I just wanted to tell you that I got to spend 4 days in Sydney back in 71. I love the hell out of Australia and Australians. I drank a lot of Fosters and never had to buy one for myself and you blokes wouldn't let me buy any for youse guys.
My dad was in Brisbane for quite some time. He spoke of nothing but how great Australia was for him.
We don't know for sure but my brother & I both suspect that we have some half siblings in Brisbane.
Dad had a legitimate reputation as a cocks man.

I posted all the tunes I recorded.

Check 'em out.

If the squatters ever move out of our front room I intend to set up another "studio". {Long story there.}

I lost my previous studio because Dumbass {Me} put Windows XP on my machine and ALL my hardware and 1100 bucks worth of software quit working.

Bill Gates has me screwed again. I heard that XP is going to be dropped at the end of May.
Fortunately I only have a couple of hundred bucks tied up in software this time but the mixer hardware is not installed and I'm sure it won't work after I get stuck for the bill on f*%king VISTA!!!

Yes they usually take things of great treasure for spite. So what instrument do you play now? I own 6 bugles & the Getzen deluxe field trumpet, which is the best one for solo, due to its crisp notes. The bugles are all from 1900`s - 1917. All in good condition. I mainly display them at the 2 local Museums . When I use them it is when 2 or 3 of us get together.

New GI Bill Incentives to Guard/Reserve Veterans!

Saw this on the news last night. I say it's about time. They've earned it. President Bush just signed into law the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. It allows for all guardsman & reservists who have served at least 90 days on active duty since 9/11, entitlement to better GI Bill tuition assistance. The more time served on active duty, the more tuition the government will pay. For more info on this Act, you can check out the Fact Sheet… Continue

Virginia is for lovers.

Hello, beloved TroopSpace. Lovely, lovely TroopSpace. Oh, how I've neglected you! Hey everybody! Oh, I know it's been quite a while now and I thought I'd make it up with a lovely update! As some of you all know by now, I am finally reunited with Michael! They pulled in one day before his birthday. From what he tells me, it was the greatest birthday ever. Coming home from a tiring patrol to a beautiful wife [hehe], and sweet gifts! Ofcourse I was his BEST gift ever. But aside from that, I bough… Continue

Not Your Typical Job...and I love it!

As the tourist season starts, the days are long, usually hot and humid and occassionally rainy which is never fun to drive in. The windows fog up, people are sticking to the seats if not each other, the few windows that are open, the rain finds it way to come in pounding right ontop of you... People won't get off, others are upset that they can't on but after a ten to twelve hour day, after we go home, we get up the next day, a new day and might possibly do it all over again and again! I have… Continue

Cherrio's, Nemo and Oyster Crackers?

My son is a little over 20 months old. He's into everything! The other day my husband and I were in the living room watching Dylan run around. It was time for his nap and he just wanted no part of it what so ever. As Tim (my husband) channel surfed he stopped on a channel which was showing a lacrosse game. (My family is very big into lacrosse) Well, Dylan stopped what he was doing and sat in his chair. SAT IN HIS CHAIR FOR MORE THAN 2 MINS!!! LOL He loved watching tha game. I kind of stood back… Continue

Where have I been...RIP Scott...Former Marine

Hello To All, I just wanted to say sorry for being distant...long hours at work as it is the season for touring! But I sadly, a dear friend of mine, former co-worker passed away. He was in a motorcycle accident, brain damage and broken arms, was in a coma for a week before taken off life support. My dear friend Scott was an aerial gun instructor in the Marine Corpts and he did 2 years in the National Guard. Former trooper, great boss, dear friend, family man...a big tough teddy bear who was a… Continue

UPDATE!!! :D

Okay, so here's pretty much what's going on for those of you that are interested. :P I've been busy going through the loads of junk I've accumulated throughout my life. Hahaha. I don't know about you guys, but I'm a pack rat! I like to save boxes of memories and whatnot. I know the Coast Guard provides movers to pack up my stuff, but I like to be more prepared. Since I won't be here when they pick up my stuff, I want them to be able to just get in and get out! I've gone through my clothes and… Continue
