SEMPER PARATUS (Always Ready)
Current Version

From North and South and East and West,
The Coast Guard's in the fight.
Destroying subs and landing troops,
The Axis feels our might.
For we're the first invaders,
On every fighting field.
Afloat, ashore, on men and Spars,
You'll find the Coast Guard shield.

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
" Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're " Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.

From Aztec shore to Arctic zone,
To Europe and Far East.
The Flag is carried by our ships,
In times of war and peace.
And never have we struck it yet,
In spite of foe-men's might,
Who cheered our crews and cheered again,
For showing how to fight.

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
" Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're " Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.

SURVEYOR and NARCISSUS,
The EAGLE and DISPATCH,
The HUDSON and the TAMPA
The names are hard to match;
From Barrow's shores to Paraguay,
Great Lakes or ocean's wave,
The Coast Guard fought through storms and winds
To punish or to save.

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
" Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're " Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.

Aye, we've been " Always Ready"
To do, to fight, or die
Write glory to the shield we wear
In letters to the sky.
To sink the foe or save the maimed
Our mission and our pride
We'll carry on 'til Kingdom Come
Ideals for which we've died.

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through howling gale and shot and shell,
To win our victory.
" Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our pledge, our motto, too.
We're " Always Ready," do or die!
Aye! Coast Guard, we fight for you.

Not Your Typical Job...and I love it!

As the tourist season starts, the days are long, usually hot and humid and occassionally rainy which is never fun to drive in. The windows fog up, people are sticking to the seats if not each other, the few windows that are open, the rain finds it way to come in pounding right ontop of you... People won't get off, others are upset that they can't on but after a ten to twelve hour day, after we go home, we get up the next day, a new day and might possibly do it all over again and again! I have… Continue

Where have I been...RIP Scott...Former Marine

Hello To All, I just wanted to say sorry for being distant...long hours at work as it is the season for touring! But I sadly, a dear friend of mine, former co-worker passed away. He was in a motorcycle accident, brain damage and broken arms, was in a coma for a week before taken off life support. My dear friend Scott was an aerial gun instructor in the Marine Corpts and he did 2 years in the National Guard. Former trooper, great boss, dear friend, family man...a big tough teddy bear who was a… Continue

The One Exception to Cell Phones...

Hey All! As some of you know, I am a tour guide. As part of the rules on the trolley, I DO NOT ALLOW cell phones because it tends to interfere with the narration...and so others can't hear all the wonderful history of Boston that I love to talk about! So one day, near the end of the tour, after repetition of telling the guests "please silence your cell phones, as this is courtesy to those who are listening to the tour" what do you know? I turn around and there is a woman in the second row talk… Continue

School pattern is much the same here except the main holidays from Approx 20th Dec - end Jan early Feb. ( Our main summer time) with 3 term 2 wk. breaks April, June, Sept. We have Primary School ( prep yr 1 - 6) Then secondary (7 - 12) then Uni or college. if you want to go further. It would be strange to us to start a year in Sept but then we drive on the wrong side of the road. & live on the opposite side of the earth.

Everything is opposite in America to us. Do the kids go up a grade after the holidays? Our main holidays are at christmas. I noticed that fathers day was celebrated recently as ours is the first sunday in september. The only thing we have this time of year is end of the financial year ( 30th June, tax time) & cold winter chills. Do Americans have much time off at christmas?

New GI Bill Incentives to Guard/Reserve Veterans!

Saw this on the news last night. I say it's about time. They've earned it. President Bush just signed into law the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. It allows for all guardsman & reservists who have served at least 90 days on active duty since 9/11, entitlement to better GI Bill tuition assistance. The more time served on active duty, the more tuition the government will pay. For more info on this Act, you can check out the Fact Sheet… Continue

Cherrio's, Nemo and Oyster Crackers?

My son is a little over 20 months old. He's into everything! The other day my husband and I were in the living room watching Dylan run around. It was time for his nap and he just wanted no part of it what so ever. As Tim (my husband) channel surfed he stopped on a channel which was showing a lacrosse game. (My family is very big into lacrosse) Well, Dylan stopped what he was doing and sat in his chair. SAT IN HIS CHAIR FOR MORE THAN 2 MINS!!! LOL He loved watching tha game. I kind of stood back… Continue

UPDATE!!! :D

Okay, so here's pretty much what's going on for those of you that are interested. :P I've been busy going through the loads of junk I've accumulated throughout my life. Hahaha. I don't know about you guys, but I'm a pack rat! I like to save boxes of memories and whatnot. I know the Coast Guard provides movers to pack up my stuff, but I like to be more prepared. Since I won't be here when they pick up my stuff, I want them to be able to just get in and get out! I've gone through my clothes and… Continue
